
Taiwo Owatemi was elected as the Member of Parliament for Coventry North-West, in December 2019. Before being elected to parliament she worked as a Senior Cancer Pharmacist. She is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board for Cancer Research UK and King’s College London Cancer Prevention Trial Unit which focuses on trials in cancer screening, early detection, and prevention.
Currently she serves as the Shadow Women and Equalities minister, Opposition Whip and as a member of the Health and Social Care Committee. She has also been a member of the International Trade Committee and the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Home Office.
Taiwo is an office holder for multiple All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), including Co-Chair of the APPG for Child Criminal Exploitation and Knife crime and the Vice Chair of the APPG for Nigeria.
